MAHMOOD RAQAI (Pajhwok): Four security personnel lost their lives to a gun and bomb attack by insurgents in the Tagab district of central Kapisa province on Sunday noon, an official said.

A convoy of security forces was transferring logistic supplies to the Alasai district when insurgents ambushed it in Tagab, Kapisa police chief, Brig. Gen. Khwaja Faqir Ahmad Seddique, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

He said the attackers also detonated some bombs they had planted on the route, killing four security personnel and injuring two police. The dead included two Afghan National Army (ANA) service members, one national policeman and one rapid reaction force personnel.

Seddique said a search operation was underway in the area and the convoy had resumed its journey towards Alasai district.

A Taliban’s spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed more than 10 government security personnel were either killed or wounded in the ambush.
