5 civilians killed in Helmand unrest

LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Five civilians were killed and four others wounded during two separate incidents of violence in southern Helmand province, an official said on Sunday.

One member of a family was killed and four others were wounded in a roadside bombing in Sarwan locality of Sangin district a day earlier, the governor’s spokesman, Omar Zwak, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

He said womeninfo-icon and children were also among the inured. One of them is said to be in critical condition.

The gubernatorial spokesman added four shopkeepers were gunned down by the Talibaninfo-icon along Kabulinfo-icon-Helmand highway on outskirts Lashkargah on Saturday evening.

Taliban are yet to comment on the incident.
