KABUL (Pajhwok): Five former ministers have been referred to the top court on charges of corruption and misuse of power, a spokesman for the Attorney-General Office (AGO) announced on Tuesday.

Facing prosecution are former minister of mines Mir Mohammad Siddiqui, transportation ministers Inayatullah Qasimi and Wahidullah Qadiri, economy minister Jalil Shams and commerce minister Mohammad Amin Farhang.

AGO spokesman Basir Azizi told reporters in Kabul a special bench of judges would be constituted for hearing the cases against the then ministers, who had been charged with graft and abuse of authority.

The AGO is also preparing corruption cases against others government officials, according to Azizi, who refused to give further details. Once finalised, the cases will be sent to the court.
