AIBAK (Pajhwok): A five-kilometer portion of the Kabul Bank in northern Samangan province, an official said on Thursday.
Samangan Public Works Director Eng. Zia Hamayun told Pajhwok Afghan News the road portion had been damaged by heavy truckloads and needed to be repaired.
He said the repair works cost 32 million afghanis given in aid by the World Bank. The highway has been constructed by a Korean company in 2006.
Hamayun said a local construction firm, Pason Mansoor, had been given the contract to repair the 5-km portion two months ago and it completed the task on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Samangan traffic officials welcomed the reconstruction and hoped it would help avoid further destruction of the road.
