TARINKOT (Pajhwok): Work to asphalt a five-kilometer road between Tarinkot, the provincial capital, and Dihruad district started on Saturday in central Uruzgan province, an official said.
The project was being funded by the ministry of public works at a cost of $1.4 billion, acting Governor Amanullah Taimuri said during the ground breaking ceremony.
Earlier, 20 kilometres road between Tarinkot and district Dihruad was graveled. The residents of five other districts would benefit from the road.
Taimuri told the construction company of the road was strictly monitored to maintain quality of work and use materials of high quality.
He said the asphalting of the road would help generate more opportunities for the locals. People of the locality expressed satisfaction over launching of the project.
