MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Six people, including a woman and two children, have died and a senior intelligence official among two others sustained injuries during separate traffic accidents in northwestern Faryab province, an official said on Thursday.

Faryab Traffic Department officials said four people, including a woman and a child, lost their lives to a car accident in Qoshkam Dara area on the Maimana-Almar Road late on Wednesday.

Traffic Department Director Jan Agha told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident occurred when a corolla car crashed into a bridge.

He linked the accident to careless driving and said all the victims were residents of Ghormach district.

A doctor at the Afghan-Turk hospital in Maimana city, the provincial capital, confirmed receiving four dead bodies, including a woman and a child, and two wounded people.

A child died in a separate accident that took place in Maimana City.

Elsewhere, a rickshaw driver was killed and deputy Faryab National Directorate of Security (NDS) chief, Abdul Wasea, was wounded in a third accident in Khwaja Sabzposh district.

An official, wishing not to be named, said Wasea was wounded but the rickshaw‘s driver had died.
