SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): Six rebels were killed during clashes with members of an uprising group in northern Jawzjan province, an official said on Tuesday.
Three members of the uprising group were also wounded during the overnight firefights in Aqch and Faizabad districts, provincial police chief Brig. Gen. Faqir Mohammad Jawzjani told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said the gun-battles lasted about six hours, resulting in the killing of four Taliban Karim, in Faizabad.
A Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid confirmed Mullah Karim had been killed, introducing him as a former shadow governor for Samangan province.
