Of the 243 lawmakers present during the session, 154 voted in favour of proposed spymaster Rahmatullah Nabil. Previously, he served as acting intelligence chief.

Minister-designate of interior Noorul Haq Ulumi bagged 131 votes, finance minister-designate Aklil Hakimi 128 and foreign affairs nominee Salahuddin Rabbani 151.

As many as 170 ballots were cast in favour of the minister-designate for public health, Ferozuddin Feroz, who was highest vote winner. 

Ghani’s choice for minister of refugee affairs Syed Hussain Alami Balkhi bagged 134 votes. Eighty lawmakers voted against him.

Similarly, minister-designate of mines Daud Shah Saba received 146 votes. Another 74 MPs voted against him.

Minister-designate for rural rehabilitation Eng. Naseer Ahmad Durrani was also confirmed, with 145 legislators voting for him. Seventy-one opposed his nomination and 24 ballots were found invalid.   

Faiz Mohammad Osmani was confirmed as haj and religious affairs minister by getting 160 votes; 61 public representatives opposed his nomination. Twenty-two of his votes were found invalid.

But the Sher Mohammad Karimi minister-designate of defense, and Sardar Rahman Oghli, candidate for the minister of economy, could not reach the 50+1 vote target.

Among the 24 cabinet candidates,18 explained their priorities to the Wolesi Jiga but the rest were barred from speaking to the assembly for having dual nationality.
