KABUL and representatives from regional countries ended in Kabul on Monday with a pledge to intensify efforts against poppy eradication, an official said.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Counter Narcotics Haroon Rashid Zherzad and representatives from China, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, Iran and Pakistan.
Sherzad told reports that the representatives of regional countries agreed to strengthen regional cooperation in fight against drug trafficking.
He said the conference discussed technical aspects of policies and commitments made on high levels in the previous conference.
The conference members said that one country could not resolve the issue of drug trafficking rather there was need for joint strategy to eliminate poppy cultivation and trafficking, he added.
During the meeting it was agreed that strict measure would be adopted and the regional countries would cooperate in the detention and investigation of high profile smugglers, the acting minister said.
