KABUL‘s northwestern province of Balochistan, bordering Kandahar province, a newspaper reported on Wednesday.
Dawn said paramilitary troops exchanged heavy gunfire with the kidnappers in Chaghi district to free the Afghans. The operation was conducted near the Pakistan-Iran border, the daily quoted Levies sources as saying.
However, the newspaper did not say who the kidnappers were, what their motive was and when the Afghans were abducted. Different gangs are reportedly active un Chaghi — a transit route for drug traffickers.
“Four kidnappers were also arrested during the operation,” the report said, adding the security personnel recovered two Kalashnikov assault rifles, two vehicles and 25 mobile phones from the kidnappers.
