KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) on Monday summoned the Pakistani ambassador in Kabul and lodged a strong protest with Islamabad over the continued rocket attacks from the neighbouring country into eastern Afghan provinces, an official said.

MoFA spokesman Ahmad Shekib Mustaghni told reporters in Kabul the Pakistani envoy, Ibrar Hussain, was summoned over Pakistan’s borders and its disloyalty to the war against terrorism.

He accused Pakistan of supporting and advising terrorists, adding a letter was also handed over to the Pakistani ambassador.

Mustaghni said Afghanistan would take every measure, including the use of military forces, if Pakistan continued shelling Afghan villages.

He said Afghanistan had always used diplomatic channels for resolving problems with Pakistan and would continue to do so in the future and would raise the cross border attacks on international platforms. But if such efforts failed to yield positive results, the last option would be the use of military force, he warned.

Mustaghni alleged the attacks involving 1,000 militants on the Sangin district of southern Helmand province was planned by Pakistani military advisors.

A day earlier, the National Security Council (NSC) also accused Pakistan of being not loyal to the war against terrorism and said Pakistan military advisors were directly involved in supporting insurgents against Afghanistan.

Mustaghni rejected the Pakistani claim that the Afghan soil was being used against Pakistan, saying the accusation was aimed at looking for excuses for its one-sided attacks on Afghanistan.

Recent rocket attacks from Pakistan into eastern Kunar province were against the agreements between the two countries and international laws, he said.

The attacks were clear invasion of Afghanistan and the Afghans would no longer tolerate them, he said.

“Afghanistan has never been home to terrorists and the Afghan government has never allowed any terrorist group to use the Afghan soil against its neighbours,” he concluded.
