MAHMUDRAQI (Pajhwok): Residents of the Tagab district of central Kapisa province on Tuesday alleged an Afghan Local police (ALP) commander had kidnapped four children for ransom.

Hidayatullah, a tribal elder, told Pajhwok Afghan News ALP commander Fazli disembarked the children from a car and took them to his check-post. The commander kept the children inside the post and demanded four million afghanis as ransom from their families, he added.

The resident said a delegation of tribal elders had been sent to mediate the release of the hostages but the commander had declined to set them free. The children are between 10 and 12 years old.

An official at the police headquarters said reports had been received regarding children’s abduction but they asked the elder to file a written complaint. He said police would be in a position to take action after registration of the Fist Information Report (FIR).
