KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): The asphalting of the remaining 25 Kilometres stretch of the Khost-Gardez road has begun, a project that would be completed in 18 month, an official said on Monday.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony on Sunday, Governor Abdul Jabbar Naeemi said construction of the road was vital to socio-economic development and enhanced security in the province.
He told Pajhwok Afghan News the project would cost $33 million provided by the USAID. Two bridges, 110 culverts and retaining walls are a part of the project.
He hoped construction of the road would speed up economic activities in the country, saying transit of routes and services would become better as the project provides a link to the Ghulam Khan port.
