KABUL) on Friday announced invalidating 95 of the 2,000 suspect ballot boxes marked for a special audit.
IEC Chairman Ahmad Yousaf Nuristani told a press conference in Kabul during the lunch break at commission’s head office 1,459 ballot boxes had been found valid.
As presidential runner Dr. Abdullah has already rejected the outcome of the nationwide audit, so far 669 ballot boxes from 574 polling sites have been declared null and void.
Nuristani said: “We wanted to conclude the audit process today, but due to technical problems the investigation will now end on Sunday.”
The invalidated ballot boxes had been sent to the Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC) for scrutiny and decision, the chairman concluded.
