BAMYAN CITY (Pajhwok): Officials from various ministries held a meeting in central Bamyan province to observe preparations ahead of an event which would mark Bamyan City as the cultural capital of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).
The event is expected to take place in April, Dr. Musadiq Khalili, acting minster for information and cultural Affairs, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Headed a 21 member delegation, he said preparations for the landmark event were discussed in greater details during the meeting.
Governor spokesman Abdul Rahman Ahmadi said around 5,000 to 10,000 people from different walks of life would participate in the ceremony.
Acting Governor Ghulam Ali Wahdat said finance ministry had to pay $500,000 allocated for the preparation of ceremony.
