MAIDAN SHAHAR/ KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): An infuriated brother shot injured his sister on Monday for teaching at a girls’ school in the Narkh district of central Maidan Wardak province, the governor’s spokesman said.
Attaullah Khogyani told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident occurred in the morning when Abdul Mohammad opened fire at his sister, Bakht Zamina.
She was then rushed to the civil hospital in Maidan Shahr, the provincial capital. Khogyani alleged the brother had links with militants. But Zamina told Pajhwok Afghan News his brother had contacts with a local police commander, Abdul Wahab.
“I’m a teacher, I serve my community and in return support my parents but Abdul Wahab incited my brother to shoot me,” the wailing teacher said. She alleged her brother was addicted to drugs and also had connections with rebels.
The governor spokesman said police had started their investigation to unearth facts.
Separately, one person died and seven others were wounded in a traffic accident in southern Kandahar province, said Samim Khpalwak, the governor’s spokesman.
