KABUL (Pajhwok): Calling early formation of the Cabinet as important, Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah’s first deputy Mohammad Khan on Saturday said some progress had been achieved in forming a consensus Cabinet, but a final decision was yet to be taken.
Khan was addressing a gathering of the Hezb-i-Islami after their inauguration.
He said no president in the world could perform all tasks alone. Cabinet gave strength to the president and its early formation was of great importance, he said.
Khan revealed the framework of the Cabinet would be cleared this week, citing information from the Presidential Palace and committees created in this regard.
His revelation comes a day after President Ahmadzai said he was in no hurry to form the Cabinet, saying it needed careful steps. After being sworn in, Ahmadzai promised the formation of Cabinet in 45 days. Today was 41st day of his promise.
Mohammad Khan said the consensus Cabinet meant participation of both the campaigns as to which ministries would go to which side.
He said besides the criteria and standards for becoming ministers, it was essential to give all the tribes representation in the Cabinet.
Khan said elections in Afghanistan were yet to reach maturity as both the election process and system had problems. However, he hoped future elections and government’s affairs would be transparent.
