KABUL on Wednesday rose for one-and-half month winter break, beginning from Thursday, with 17 ministers-designate yet to get votes of trust from the lower house.
Earlier, it was decided the Wolesi Jirga — like the Meshrano Jirga — would start its winter recess on January 20. But the assembly had to postpone its vacation to approve the budget and finalise the trust vote process.
The Jirga approved the budget and endorsed nine ministers, rejecting 10 of the presidential choices. The cabinet formation has to be delayed because of winter break.
Speaker Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi told the session the house would embark on its winter break from tomorrow (Thursday). The august house had done a commendable job during the past year, he observed.
