KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Two separate roadside bomb explosions killed six people and injured several others, including children, in southern Kandahar province, where nine militants were also killed, officials said on Tuesday.

The first blast ripped through a private vehicle, killing three civilians in the Ashghu area of Zheri district on Monday, a security official in the district told Pajhwok Afghan News.

A doctor on duty at the Mirwais Hospital in Kandahar City, the provincial capital, said they had been delivered the dead bodies of three civilians.

But the Taliban said the dead were local police members, including their commander Abullah Jan.

The second roadside bombing hit a tractor the same day in the Shorabak district near the Pakistani border, killing a man and injuring his two children, the district chief, Abdul Nafi, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Meanwhile, provincial police spokesman Fahim Rahimi said nine insurgents had been killed over the past three days in Ghorak, Shah Walikot and Maiwand district and 10 others wounded.

The nine were killed after a group of insurgents stormed police and local police posts in Ghorak and Shah Walikot districts, he said. Security forces and civilians stayed safe.

Four militants were injured during a clash with the 205th Maiwand Military Corps in the Maiwand district during an operation, the corps said in a statement. A fifth suspect was detained, it said.
