GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Three militants, including a commander, were killed in infighting between two rival Taliban groups in southern Ghazni province on Friday, an official said.
Deputy Governor Mohammad Ali Ahmadi told Pajhwok Afghan News the firefight erupted in Khogyani district this morning. Taliban commander Mullah Izzatullah was among the dead.
He did not say what triggered the fight, believing some fighters had been wounded. But the official had no further information about the rare incident.
An area resident, who did not want to be named, said a verbal clash preceded the fire exchange in his village. The two groups met there for half an hour before trading fire, he added.
