KABUL $270 million in assistance over the next three years.

Lidegaard made the announcement during a meeting with President Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai at his office, the Presidential Palace said in a statement.

The foreign minister said Denmark would provide Afghanistan with $ 90 million per year for the next three years in aid.

He his country was committed to a long-term partnership with Afghanistan, the statement said.

The two leaders also talked about international support to the newly-formed national unity government in Afghanistan. They discussed anti-corruption efforts, human rights and improvement of education for Afghan children.

The Danish Foreign Minister felicitated President Ghani on formation of the unity government and said the Afghans had great expectations from the government.

President Ghani said his government was committed to eliminating corruption, adding that empowering women was the government’s top priority.
