GHAZNI CTY (Pajhwok): A dozen Taliban fighters were killed and seven others wounded during a clash with national police in the Maqur district of southern Ghazni province on Sunday, an official said.

The midday clash broke out in the district’s Gadakhel area, said Shafique Nang, the provincial government spokesman.

He said one Afghan Local Police member was injured during the firefight that left a dozen rebels dead and seven others wounded.

But a resident of the area, Roohullah, said two policemen were killed during the clash.

There has been no word from the Taliban about the incident.
