Dozens of Uruzgan youth donate blood

Oct 21, 2014 - 12:57

TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): Dozens of youth and civil societyinfo-icon activists donated blood to the Public Healthinfo-icon Department in central Uruzgan province on Tuesday.

As an increasing number of injured people are brought to the main hospital here on a daily basis, the donors urged the authorities to provide their blood to the needy and refrain from selling it.

Rahimullah, one of the donors, told Pajhwok Afghan News he was happy to donate blood. He hoped his gesture would help save a needy compatriot.

He claimed some of the patients lost their lives as the Tirinkot Civil Hospital often remained short of blood. The donations would be used to save the lives of the needy, he believed.

Another man, Rozi Khan encouraged youth to participate in the noble drive. Blood donation had a good effect on health, he said, dismissing the notion that it caused weakness.

Public Health Director Dr. Khan Agha Miakhel appreciated the spirit of you and social activists. He acknowledged the hospital, which daily received patients from all parts of the province, did not have enough blood.
