KABUL (PAJHWOK): First death anniversary of former first vice-president Marshal Muhammad Qasim Fahim was observed in parts of the country, including Kabul, on Monday amid prayers’ congregations for the departed soul.
Fahim 56 died of heart diseases on March 9, 2014 in Kabul. Officials laid floral wreath on his grave to mark his death anniversary. Fahim was a famous commander of Jamiat-e-Islami during Jihad against Russia.
After the fall of Dr. Najib’s rule, he had served as national security advisor, defense minister, deputy for transition administration and vice-president.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, ex-defense minister Bismillah Muhammadi and other senior officials and his family members attended a congregation arranged to mark Fahim’s anniversary at Sarai Shamali hill of Kabul city.
Paying rich tribute to political wisdom of late Fahim, Abdullah said: “We all miss him today and the gap he left behind cannot be bridged.”
