MAIMANA (Pajhwok): At least nine militants, including a Taliban commander and three foreigners, have been killed during clashes in the Qaisar district of northwestern Faryab province, officials said on Sunday.
Abdul Jamil Siddiqui, the district administrative chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News at least nine other fighters were injured after security forces launched an offensive to wrest the control of Nahrain and Arkilik localities that fell to Taliban on Saturday.
He said six rebels, including notorious commander Mullah Mohiuddin, were killed and eight others wounded. A policeman also suffered slight injuries.
Meanwhile, Maj. Reza, spokesman for the 209th Shahin Corps, said three Uzbek insurgents were killed during a gunbattle with security forces in the Nahrain area of Qaisar.
