KABUL (Pajhwok): At the head of a high-level delegation, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Tuesday flew to Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, on Wednesday.
Ghani would meet with his Turkmen counterpart Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov and other senior officials during his two-day visit to the neighbouring country, his office said.
A statement from the Presidential Palace said Ghani would meet the Turkmen president and other officials on issues of mutual interest.
Improved bilateral relations and cooperation in economic, trade and cultural fields are high on the presidential agenda. The regional situation will aslos figure at the meetings.
Ghani is accompanied by his Vice-Presidents Gen. Abdur Rashid Dostam and Mohammad Mohaqiq, National Security Advisor Hanif Atmar and acting finance minister Hazrat Omar Zakhilwal.
