MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Hajj flights transporting pilgrimages to Saudi Arabia were started from Mazar-e-Sharif, the provincial capital of northern Balkh province, an official said Saturday.
Qari Hayatullah, director Hajj and Religious Ministry, told Pajhwok Afghan News that first flight carrying pilgrims had left for Saudi Arabia last night from Maulana Jalaludin Balkhi Airport.
Three flights, he said had departed so far which transported 320 pilgrims to the holy land while 233 pilgrims would join them soon. A total of 1,024 pilgrims would depart for Saudi Arabia from Balkh province, he added.
Meanwhile, Hajj flights also began from the capital Kabul on Friday.
