Karzai meets new US envoy for Afghanistan, Pakistan

Jul 31, 2014 - 21:56

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): President Hamid Karzai met on Thursday with the new US special representative for Afghanistaninfo-icon and Pakistaninfo-icon, the Presidential Palace said.

The meeting between Karzai and Dan Feldman, who replaced last month James Dobbins, a veteran diplomat with deep ties to Afghanistan, took place at the Presidential Palace on Thursday noon, a statement from the palace said.

It said both the sides discussed the ongoing audit and investigation into the votes cast during the second round of the presidential election on June 14 and Feldman provided fresh information to the president in this regard.

President Karzai once again stressed an early completion of the vote audit process, saying millions of Afghans who went to the polls were impatient to see their new president and his new government.
