Parwan police chief Brig. Gen. Mohammad Zaman Mamozai told Pajhwok Afghan News the Chinese engineer had been kidnapped from Kabul by unknown gunmen about a month back.

He said the kidnappers on seeing police in the area had thrown the engineer into a river in Sanjad Dara area near Charikar, the provincial capital. Police fished out the Chinese national with his hands and feet bound on Sunday morning

The police chief said they had handed over the construction engineer to the Ministry of Interior. He did not further reveal the engineer’s identity.
