Kunar explosion leaves 2 dead

ASADABAD (Pajhwok): Two people, including a child, were killed and seven others wounded when an unexploded mortar went-off all in a sudden in the Manogi district of eastern Kunar province on Monday, an official said.

The incident occurred in the Kanda Gul locality in the wee hours when a child was playing with the mortar, police chief Brig. Gen. Abdul Habib Sayedkhel, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The injured had been shifted to a local hospital, he added.

Meanwhile, Pakistani military had fired 80 rockets into Kunar province since Sunday, the official said, adding that the rockets hit different areas of Dangam district but caused no civilian causalities.
