MAHMOOD RAQI (Pajhwok): Growing insecurity has led to a considerable increase in the number of displaced families in central Kapisa province, an official said on Wednesday.

Qasim Malikzai, the director of refugee in Kapisa, told Pajhwok Afghan News that many of the families shifting from districts to the provincial capital were faced with problems.

Local authorities were in talks with humanitarian NGOs on aid to the needy households. “Compared to last year, insecurity has increased in parts of the province, forcing people from their homes.”

Malikzai did not give the exact number of the displaced people, but said it had increased by 50%.

Khairullah, displaced from Alasai district, said: “We have received no aid from the government; we are living in bad condition and don’t have enough food to eat.”

Rahmatullah, who has come from Tagab district, said: “As the winter has begun, we are facing many problems. The government should give us a place to live in.”

Governor Mehrabuddin Sapi acknowledged a number of families had shifted to Mahmood Raqi due to insecurity in Tagab, Alasai and Najrab districts.
