MAIDAN SHAHAR (Pajhwok): Militants have torched the house of a former education minister in the Syedabad district of central Maidan Wardak province, an official said on Sunday.

Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the house of Farooq Wardak in the Onkhi area of the district was set on fire last night by insurgents.

He said everything inside the house was completely destroyed. No one was residing in the house but one person was guarding the compound.

Deputy Governor Abdul Majid Khogyani expressed concern over the incident and ordered security organs to investigate the attack immediately. In a similar incident last week, militants set the house of a district chief on fire.
