KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghan captain Mohammad Nabi Issakhel is eighth all-rounder in the Reliance ICC Player Rankings for ODI All-rounders in the latest update.
Pakistan’s Mohammad Hafiz reclaimed number one on the list and leapfrogged Shakib Al Hasan, Ravindra Jadeja, Shane Watson and Tillakaratne Dilshan after earning 26 rating points.
Shahid Afridi of Pakistan is in the seventh position followed by Nabi at eighth position. It is for the first time that an Afghan has been ranked among the top 10 all rounders.
Afghanistan Cricket Board spokesman Farid Hotak told Pajhwok Afghan News they were aware of Nabi’s achievement and were pleased with that.
He said cricket had many achievements in Afghanistan and the national side had earned 11th position in the cricket world.
Nabi told Pajhwok Afghan News that he was happy with the ICC announcement and attributed his success to the prayers of Afghans.
He said they would work hard to progress more in cricket and earn Afghanistan a good name in the comity of nations.
