KABUL (Pajhwok) At least five policemen and six militants have been killed and two children wounded during attacks in different parts of the country, officials said on Monday.

Jawzjan police officer Col. Abdul Manan Raufi said five Afghan Local Police (ALP) members were killed when militants stormed their post in the Gardan village of Qush Tepa district.

Two rebels were killed and four militants and three civilians wounded in the ensuing gunbattle, he added.

Bu Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed a security post of ALP had been captured and five policemen killed in the fight in Gardan.

Elsewhere, four insurgents were killed and two others wounded in the Dahna Ghori district of Baghlan province, the police spokesman said.

Javed Basharat added the clash took place after a group of rebels stormed a police post late on Sunday night. Police personnel were among the wounded.

According to another report, two children were wounded in a suicide attack in northern Kunduz province. Police spokesman Syed Sarwar Hussaini said the suicide attacker on foot planned to target Afghan security personnel.

After being identified by police, the bomber detonated his explosives before reaching the target in the Bandar area of Imam Sahib district.

Two civilians were wounded in the blast, he said, adding they were evacuated to hospital. He provided no more details about the incident.
