KABUL (Pajhwok): President Hamid Karzai announced on Thursday the deadline for inaugurating new president would not be extended for more than 15 days at any cost.

In a statement from his office, Karzai expressed the views during a meeting with a delegation from the Sheikh Zayed University.

“My term in office has ended, the public voted for me for a five-year term. Now a new president should swiftly come to assume charge,” he stressed, calling for timely election results.

Prof. Muhammad Rasool Bawari, chancellor of the university, together with senior staff members, informed the president there were thousands of students seeking knowledge at the 12-years old institution.
