KABUL (Pajhwok): Talks between President Ashraf Ghani and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdullah Abdullah were underway to form the new Cabinet ahead of the London Conference, but there has been no breakthrough, an official said.
Ruling out serious differences, Abdullah’s spokesperson Mujibur Rahman Rahimi told reporters no worth mentioning progress could be achieved so far to name new ministers.
However, he said nominees for key ministries would be named ahead of the London’s conference slated for December 4.
The London conference, he said, would provide a platform for the Afghan government to speak out its vision for reforms and for the international community to pledge enduring support.
The main reason for the delay in the Cabinet formation had been differences over power-sharing, said Rahimi.
After being sworn-in last month, President Ghani promised to introduce ministers-designate within 45 days, but the deadline could not be met.
