KABUL (Pajhwok): No one got hurt in a loud explosion in front of the municipality building in Kabul city on Sunday, the Ministry of Interior said.

The blast in front of the public library near the municipality building took place in the limits of the second police district shortly after 3:30pm, the ministry’s deputy spokesman, Najibullah Danish, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

He said it was a landmine blast but the target was unknown. Police were investigating the incident, the official said.

Earlier, Humayun Ayni, director 191 police hotline service, confirmed the blast but had no details at the time.  Eyewitnesses said the bomb had been planted beneath a bridge close to the Isteqlal High School.
