KABUL.

ASMS2014 follows the success of Afghanistan’s First Annual Social Media Summit, which was held on Sept. 21-22, 2013 and brought together 260 participants from around the country.

ASMS2014 will be both larger and more engaging, aiming to draw a crowd of 500 per day and featuring international media and technology experts coming to Kabul to speak.

The event will involve networking and community building among Afghanistan’s most active social media users. Additionally, prominent technology, mobile and social media experts from Afghanistan and around the world will give speeches, participate in panel discussions and lead workshops that will provide practical skills.

“As an online news outlet, Pajhwok’s partnership with the Afghan Social Media Summit makes sense, and we are eager to work with Impassion Afghanistan to support the growth of Afghanistan’s online community,” says Danish Karokhel, the head of Pajhwok Afghan News.

The media partnership follows on close, unofficial collaboration during the first summit in 2013, when Pajhwok both contributed to early brainstorming sessions and Mr. Karokhel himself spoke on a panel on journalism in Afghanistan.

“The involvement of Pajhwok, Afghanistan’s largest news agency, will further strengthen ASMS’s goals of promoting social media use in Afghanistan,” said Muhib Shadan, the summit’s marketing officer. “We welcome their involvement and hope other media partners will join us,” he added.
