KABUL needed a broader national consensus, vowing to introduce reforms in government sectors in consultations with Afghans.

The president was talking to former jihadi leaders, politicians and influential personalities during a consultative gathering at the Presidential Palace, a statement from the palace said.

Ghani briefed the participants on his recent visits to Saudi Arabia, China and Pakistan summits.

The president said national and tribal elders were important pillars of the country and the new government was committed to bringing reforms in consultations and consensus with the Afghans.

Calling peace the most important demand of Afghanistan’s people, the president said: “For maintaining peace in Afghanistan, we need a broader national consensus in conformity with all Afghans.”

The dignitaries described President Ghani’s visits to China and Pakistan a good beginning for future and full of achievements.

They said the government should with one voice and vision take steps for doing service to the people of Afghanistan.

The jihadi leaders, politicians and prominent figures also shared their views and suggestions with the president about improvement in the country’s security situation.

President said he needed suggestions from jihadi and political figures and he would continue holding consultative gatherings with them.
