WASHINGTON (Pajhwok): The Pentagon has expressed its concern over a sudden increase in terror attacks in Afghanistan) taking on terrorist organisations in the country.
“We are certainly concerned over the terror attacks (in Afghanistan). We are confident ANSF’s ability to perform their duties and protect the Afghan people,” Col. Steve Warren, the Pentagon spokesman, told reporters during an off-camera news conference.
Responding to a question, Warren said: “We believe that they are capable and confident. We know it is a tough fight, it’s a tough enemy. But we are confident in the ability of the Afghan forces to execute their mission.”
State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki condemned in the strongest terms the Taliban International Airport. “We note the Afghan national police led a successful operation to secure the airport,” she added.
