JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Five militants, a civilian and four police personnel have been killed in different incidents in eastern Laghman and Nangarhar province, officials said on Saturday.

Six insurgents and as many Afghan Local Police members were injured in a clash in the Hakimabad area of Laghman province late on Friday night, the governor’s spokesman said.

Sarhadi Zwak told Pajhwok Afghan News the injured were rushed to hospital for treatment. But he said nothing about the condition of the wounded.

Resident Adam Khan said there was a heavy clash between Taliban and police in the area. Some bullets also struck residential homes, he alleged.

Four Taliban were killed and some others injured in a clash in the Shinwari Qala area of Batikot district of Nangarhar, police spokesman Maj. Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal said.

Mashriqiwal added unidentified gunmen shot dead a man and injured his brother in Ghalji Market of Nangarhar. The killers managed to escape.
