ZARANJ (Pajhwok): Five insurgents and two policemen were killed in southwestern Nimroz and northern Kunduz provinces, officials said Thursday.

 

Col. Amanullah Khashrody, police chief of Delaram district in Nimroz, told Pajhwok Afghan News three insurgents and two policemen were killed in an overnight clash when police patrol party came under rebels’ attack. One policeman was wounded in the firefight, he added.

 

However, Qari Yousuf Ahmadi, Taliban spokesman, claimed killing two policemen and injuring three others.

 

Separately, in Kunduz, two insurgents harassing commuters on Sher Khan port-Kunduz highway had been shot dead after a firefight with the police, police added.

 

Brig. Gen. Abdul Saboor Nasrati, police chief said, police detained a man red-handed who was fixing a magnetic bomb to a police vehicle in Imam Saheb district. He said the suspect was under interrogation.

 

He added seven persons were also arrested on various criminal charges in Kunduz City.
