KABUL on Monday urged President Ashraf Ghani to reintroduce ministers-designate of foreign and interior affairs, otherwise the MP would approve or reject the candidates who have presented their plans.
Abdul Qader Zazai, head of the international affairs commission, told Pajhwok Afghan News earlier the president had named 24 cabinet picks. Seventeen of them have already outlined their priorities so far.
The presidential choices for the ministers of foreign and interior affairs, information, counternarcotics, urban development, labour and justice as well as the central bank head have dual citizenship.
In line with the parliamentary decision, the lawmakers will not vote for dual-citize candidates. Zazai said the above eight ministers-designate had given up their dual citizenship and the commission had accepted their nominations.
He said the rejected nominates should be introduced by the government tomorrow (Tuesday) to present their future plans; otherwise the Wolesi Jirga would vote for or against those who had already explained their programmes.
Zazai added that Najiba Ayubi, the minister-designate of women’s affairs had failed to submit her bachelor degree to the commission. She, therefore, was not allowed to share her work plans with public representatives.
