KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): A pro-government cleric has been killed in a bomb explosion inside a mosqueinfo-icon in southeastern Khost province, an official said on Friday.

Maulviinfo-icon Abdur Rashid Naqshbandi, who stoutly supported Afghan security forces, died in the blast happened on a joint Afghan-NATOinfo-icon base near the provincial capital on Thursday night.

A security official, who did not want to be named, told Pajhwok Afghan News the mosque was partially damaged as a result of the explosion ahead of Isha prayers.

Meanwhile, acting governor Abdul Wahed Patan confirmed the killing of the religious scholar, who repeatedly condemned suicide attacks as un-Islamic.
