TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): Developmental projects worth 98 million afghanis have been completed in central Uruzgan province, benefitting thousands of families, an official said on Saturday.

Deputy Governor Sher Pacha Urgoni told Pajhwok Afghan News 136 million afs had been allocated for the projects but due to some hurdles only 98 million afs were spent.

He said the reconstruction of a canal was among the projects. The canal would irrigate 3,600 hectares of land, benefiting 10,000 families.

In addition, some culverts and streams were also constructed to facilitate farmers irrigating their lands. The World Bank-funded projects were completed in two years.

Rahmatullah, a resident of Surkh Marghab locality, expressed satisfaction with the completion of the schemes, saying their long-standing demand had been met.
