KABUL Fazlullah has been killed in an operation on the Afghan border.
The rumours come days after a deadly Taliban attack on a military-run school in Peshawar killed nearly 150 people, including 132 students, on Dec. 16. But the Pakistani military cautioned it was too early to confirm the killing.
A section of Pakistani media, quoting the Defence Ministry said Fazlullah had been killed in a border area. The ministry tweeted on Friday the notorious commander was killed during an operation.
However, the country’s military said it would be premature to say something about his killing. Maj. Gen. Salim Bajwa, military spokesman, said he could not comment until a clear picture emerged.
