AIBAK (Pajhwok): Samangan residents on Tuesday lamented the new provincial council’s failure to elect its administrative board and to hold regular meetings.

Samangan PC members were sworn in two weeks ago, but they have not yet started regular attendance to choose their administrative board.

Based on reports, some members have stopped attending PC sessions after the name of Sadat Hamidi — a female contestant –was erased from the list of winners.

Sadat Hamidi’s name was among the successful candidates, but was removed later on and replaced by Khatol Sherzai.

Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC) Chairman Abdul Sattar Sadat told Pajhwok Afghan News in the initial list of the successful candidates Sadat Hamidi’s name was mentioned mistakenly.

Mohammad Amin, a resident of Aibak, said during the election campaign, the candidates promised everything. “Now that they have won, they are not even attending their own sessions.”

Hashim Sarwary, a member of the Samangan PC, said that all nine members were regular in their attendance, but they could not manage to elect the administrative board because four members stayed away.

Mohammad Ewaz Beg, another PC member, said that he would not take part in the board elections until Sadat Hamidi’s name was put back on the list of winners.
