KABUL and Pakistani was not acceptable and promised serious measures to dismantle what he called a parallel economy.

At a meeting with members of the Afghanistan-Pakistan Joint Chamber of Commerce at the Presidential Palace in Kabul, he made clear his administration would not tolerate smuggling.

He hoped other countries having business relations with Afghanistan would help prevent the smuggling of goods from Afghanistan. Ghani said Afghanistan offered attractive investment incentives to local and foreign businessmen.

He called on other countries to ensure Afghan traders were provided all needed facilities. A statement from the Presidential Palace said Khan Jan Alokozai, the chamber head, informed the president about their activities and the hurdles they faced.

He requested the president to support Afghan and Pakistani traders and make efforts for expanding the trade volume between the two countries. The ultimate beneficiaries of enhanced trade would be the common people, he observed.

Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industries President Iftikhar Ahmad Vohra, who was also present at the meeting, called Afghanistan was an important country. He said both the neighbours should support each other in the area of trade.
