KABUL (Pajhwok): A suicide bomber dressed in military uniform blew up himself inside the police headquarters in Kabul on Sunday, killing at least one officer and injuring six others, officials said.
The blast on the police HQ’s third flour killed the police chief’s office manager Col. Yasin Khan and injured six policemen and a child.
Kabul police chief Gen. Mohammad Zahir Zahir said the bomber was stopped by security forces while trying to enter his room. The attacker detonated his explosives, killing Khan and injuring six others.
Gen Zahir told reporters the blast occurred on the third floor where his office was located. He was fine, but his best officer was killed.
He said an investigation into the attack had been launched and the attacker used military uniform to enter the office.
A Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was carried out by a suicide bomber.
Public Health Department spokesman Dr. Kanishka Turkistani told Pajhwok Afghan News one dead body and seven wounded persons, including the child, were shifted to the civil hospital and the child healthcare center.
However, he did not reveal the extent of their injuries.
