PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): A Taliban-designated district chief for Doshi district has been arrested along with two accomplices in northern Baghlan province, an official said on Tuesday.
Maulvi Mamoor and his associates were detained with weapons during an operation in Siah Dara area late on Monday, police spokesman Javid Basharat told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Another rebel linked to Mamoor was killed during a clash with police, he said, adding the Taliban’s district chief had been operating against the government in Doshi district.
A week ago, a public representative from Baghlan province — Ashiqullah Wafa — came under attack in Doshi but he escaped unhurt.
Meanwhile, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed capturing 15 policemen and killing several others in Deh Salah.
However, Basharat spurned the Taliban’s claim and said a clash in Shashan area of the district with some illegal armed men caused no casualties.
